Even though I can playback almost instantaneously after the song opens up in Ableton, I find that the waveforms in the tracks are greyed out and slowly turn black over time as its loaded off the harddisk. No audio is heard if the playhead is under a greyed out part of the waveform. I was wondering if there is some setting I can turn on to ensure that the song is loaded fully before playback. I have a relatively fast machine:
Macbook Pro 2.5GHz with 4GB RAM and internal 200GB HDD (5400rpm). Will it help to go to an external FW800 HDD running at 7200rpm?
